Hi Guys and Girls...here we go again! Spring has sprung and its time to go racing! The winter has been very busy away from the track– the Noise Management issues have used up a significant amount of time– especially from Jude Gray and John Mitchell– a resolution is close… The downside is that we have had to invest in giving us a future by spending some of the nest egg that we have all worked so hard for. One of the conditions of the Noise Management is that we have a curfew 10PM. It is very achievable BUT everyone needs to contribute. We need complete buy in from everyone– Competitors, Crews, Officials, Speedway NZ..EVERYONE!!! Anyone who deliberately stalls the programme can expect disciplinary action.

TIME SCHEDULE—BUT REMEMBER SOMETIMES WE NEED TO CHANGE SO WATCH THE PITBOARD!!!!
Pit Gates Open 2.30PM
Scrutineering FINISHES 4.45PM
Staff Meeting 4.30PM
Competitors Briefing 4.50PM
Warm Ups
Sprintcars 5.30PM-5.45 PM
Modified Sprints and TQs 5.45 to 5.50PM
Midgets 5.50PM to 6.00

BULLET POINTS
PLEASE BE READY TO GO!!!!!! As the first race commences at 6.30PM
The only way that we can keep our track is by sticking to this schedule.
The program of events is taken from the pit board NOT THE PRINTED PROGRAM as events can change on the night.
Wheel packing is combined with warm ups.
The times on the board are the ones we run to ITS IMPORTANT THAT THESE TIMES ARE ADHERED TO. Use it or lose it.
If time runs out the feature class will run and another class will miss out on a race this should not happen if everybody is organised and ready to race on time.
Keep out of the protest room for trivial matters is a good starting point to time management!
CLUB ROOMS
After the meeting you need to go down to the club rooms for a club draw and some fun raffles . The turnout at our working bees was not great and we have had to pay for some things that our members could have done SO HERE’S YOUR CHANCE TO HELP US !! Have a beer in YOUR Club rooms– (Sorry NO BYO.) and support YOUR CLUB

"What a great night for Ruapuna, and its people" was how Christchurch Speedway Association President Kevin Clive described the trophy haul at the NZ Speedway Awards held in Wellington on Saturday night.

"We've been working really hard on raising our profile, and on our professionalism-its starting to pay off" said an ecstatic Clive after the function.
Ruapuna's marketing strategy paid off in winning "The Best Poster", "Best Race Meeting Video Production" , "Best T-Shirt" and "Best Promotional Item" (shared with Oreti), and then competitors Matt Leversedge (TQ Driver of the Year) and Montana Jamieson (1/4 Midget driver of the Year) were recognised.
Kevin acknowledged the efforts of many with the successful entries.

Some of the silverware picked up by Ruapuna Speedway at Saturday nights awards

"We are thrilled that two of our young gun racers were recognised. Matt and Montana are both great racers. Our Promotions Team worked very hard, and one of the initiatives that we built on was our 'Mail Drop card' programme. We hand delivered over 10, 000 of these. Chris MacKenzie does an outstanding job with our programme and graphic designs and his NZ TQ Championship poster was stunning. Neil Sorenson puts in many hours providing our competitors and fans with great video footage, while the Track Shack team are justifiably proud of the NZ Sidecar Championship T-Shirt. It was also great to see the third place cup from the NZ TQ Championship handed over for Jeremy Webb."
The crowning moment came when recently retired Ruapuna identity Gary Jemmett received the prestigious "Overall Contribution to Speedway" Award.
"Gary has worked tirelessly for the club for forty plus years. He is highly respected in the Speedway World and this Award recognises his contribution. Gary may be fading into the background a little, but I know that he will answer the call if we need advice and guidance."
The club was a 'beaten finalist' in several other categories including
'National Event of the Year-NZ Sidecar Championship", Most Improved Club Speedway, Sportsman of the Year (Kevin Clive), TQ Driver of the Year (Jeremy Webb), Sidecar Competitor of the Year (John Warwood & Laurie McMahon), 1/4 Midget Driver of the Year (Brad Clive), Photographer of the Year (TJ Palmer) and Announcer of the Year (AJ Batt).

With many years of speedway that have been and gone we look forward to many more years of fast furious action to happen on the track and with the competitiveness of tracks and presentation as shown at the recent Speedway New Zealand awards held in June, we are always looking for ways to improve the whole experience for you the fans.

With this comes the stadium improvements such as adding more dirt to the race surface or the planting of the new trees around the fencing. We are giving you the oppertunity to contribute to the stadium improvements. By Joining the 100 Club you can purchase a limited ticket out of 100 for $100. There will be a function held on August 2nd at the club rooms with prizes up for grabs.

Tickets can be purchased from Club President Kevin Clive.
